We have a support group for moms in the Tulsa area!

Our group meets the first Thursday of every month from 7-9p.
We welcome all moms who are parenting children who have Asperger's Syndrome.

Whatcha Thinkin?

You know.....what do you think about when your mind is not "having" to think of a task, when your mind wanders? Do you slip into a bit of a dark place? Do you bless the Lord for the little things? It is easy to have joyful thoughts when all is well. We all can do that, and hopefully do!... And...it is normal to have not so good thoughts when things are not going well.

This scripture passage from my favorite book Philippians, treats what we are thinking about as an act of will. That may be a concept we don't often think of....our "wandering" thoughts as an act of will! For those of you that don't know - this is week 8 of a 10 week journey I took with the Lord, after being placed on horizontal, left side bed rest with preterm labor with our son. Bouncing from Jonni's thoughts ~ do I wish I had not had to go down that 10 week road? YES. Would I trade a perfect pregnancy for what I learned about myself, my Lord and life in those weeks if I could? NO. I would not, because it was in those weeks that God gave me one very clear scripture for each week I was "down". The reason he gave me these verses in this order?...To share with others in the journeys they have. This verse, being towards the end of that time was like a nugget of gold. It was really like an ice cold drink of the clearest of water after you are really hot and thirsty. After many tough things, this verse was a directive that truly helps when my thoughts want to wander ~ the wrong way.

We all, with our special ones, have deep dark times. We all, with our special ones, have victories that only those that also share our journey can understand. I would encourage each of you to re-direct your minds....if they should wander the wrong way...to the victories. With this Easter season, also remember the greatest victory was Jesus putting himself - on a cross - in our place, and defeating sin, forever. Now THAT'S something to dwell on!!!
